Mark is a partner at Carey Olsen where he specialises in litigation, compliance and financial regulatory matters. Mark undertakes a wide variety of criminal and civil litigation including trust litigation. He also advises financial services businesses on compliance issues, often liaising with the Financial Investigation Unit of the Guernsey Customs and Police.
Mark has been involved in advising several major financial institutions on complex and sensitive money laundering and associated issues. Many have resulted in reports to regulatory authorities and appearances in court.
Mark holds a number of positions including:
- Secretary to the Guernsey Association of Compliance Officers
- Money Laundering Reporting Officer to The Carey Group.
- Standing Counsel to the National Trust of Guernsey.
- Director of The Carey Group.
- Group Data Protection Officer for Carey Olsen law practice.
He is recommended in “Chambers Global: The World’s Leading Lawyers” as an expert in litigation and is recommended in the “Legal 500” as an expert in Guernsey law being described as “a star in the ascendant”.
Mark was called as a Barrister in 1994 and practised in London before returning to Guernsey where he qualified with the firm as an Advocate in 1997. He has been a partner since 2001 and became a Notary Public in 2006.
